Get to know about Mahakumbh:

Mahakumbh Mela: The Ultimate Spiritual Gathering.

Mahakumbh Mela is one of the world’s largest gatherings. It is held once every 144 years at 4 sacred Indian cities: Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain, and Nashik. The Mahakumbh is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It draws millions of devotees and pilgrims. This event happens when the planets align. It is believed to be incredibly rare. When Jupiter (guru) enters Aquarius, along with the sun and moon, it creates a perfect astrological combination. It is said to purify the soul and offer moksha to those who bathe in the holy water during the Mela. At the Triveni Sangam, millions of people gather to take part in this sacred tradition. Besides taking a holy dip, people also pray by the river. They listen to wise teachings from saints and sadhus (holy men). Starting from Paush Purnima, there are certain special days that are even more important. On these days, grand processions take place. Saints, their followers, and various religious groups (Akharas) come together. They take part in a grand bathing ritual, the Shahi Snan. It marks the official start of the Maha Kumbh Mela.

The Shahi Snan is the biggest event of the festival. People believe that bathing after the saints gives them extra blessings. They think it comes from the holy men’s good deeds and wisdom.
